- Applications are assessed and from that a short list will be chosen
- Those on the shortlist will be notified that they have been invited to interviews.
- The interview will consist of a discussion with the selection committee on your show idea.
- From the interviews final recipients will be selected and announced to the media and to the recipients via written confirmation.

The Mooseheads do not provide cash funding, rather we provide a comprehensive support package to help you get your show up and running.
This package includes:
- Payment of Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) registration fee.
- The services of the Moosehead Awards co-ordinator who will guide you through theprocess of producing a festival show and provide you with invaluable assistance.
- A Marketing Package that may include but not limited to — an advertisement in the MICF and web advertising, (this is in addition to your 'program listing', which is included as a part of your registration fee) poster printing (for posters around the venue precinct only) and a limited street press campaign.
- A publicist will be engaged on your behalf.
- Professional photography and poster design.
- Meetings with industry professionals to assist you with your show and planning.
- Trial shows prior to the festival to assist with the development of your show.
- Up to $2500 in the event that you are unable to meet your Melbourne Town Hall venue guarantee. **
- Some assistance with hand billing in the Melbourne Town Hall precinct.
- And THE COMEDY CHANNEL Director's Grant of $2000 to pay your Director.
